Google Search Console
Today we are going to talk about Google Search Console and how important it is as a tool for SEO.
Google Search Console (also known as Google Webmaster Tool)
is a complete package of resources that helps marketers / SEO professionals in finding
/ analyzing / improving certain parameters like:
1. Performance of your website
2. Allows submitting your website’s sitemap
3. Total Coverage (how many pages have been indexed / not
indexed)
4. Issues / Errors (if any your website has)
5. How the website appears on Google
6. Mobile usability and many more…
So, to access Google Search Console Tool, you simply go to: https://www.google.co.in/webmasters
link and then Sign In with the desired Gmail account (you can use the same
Gmail account through which you create your Google Analytics code to be
installed on website).
Why use it?
- It helps web developers to find out any issues /
errors in the markup that might show up in the search console and resolve it.
- Helps SEO
Marketers to monitor website traffic,
optimize rankings, submit website sitemap urls, users visitng website through
different devices.
- Helps in finding our website loading issues. If
the website load speed is not great, you can work on some areas as Google
Search Console let you know about the same!
- Also, it helps marketers to know how the meta
tags appear in Google Search (like the description / keyword and title tags) so
it helps in correcting the same if the description limit is exceeded as per
search engine protocols.
- Helps Site Administrators to know about the Total Clicks / Impressions, top visited pages of the website, devices used by users through which they have browsed the website, countries through which users have visited the website.
Search Console is a web based tool you can browse through a
browser and you can start analysing the parameters mentioned above to better
your search rankings and / or make required modifications (if needed).
